So after over 12 months I’m finishing off my design placement at Cardiff Students’ Union, it’s been a fantastic 12 months, I’ve worked on a lot of cool design projects and learnt even more about the industry.  I’ve just got one of final projects back from the printers, my design for the 2011 Graduation Booklet, which will be given to all the students graduating as a keepsake of their time at the union, here’s a shot of one of my favourite pages, you can see more on my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/designlouder/5939737686

Cardiff Gig Posters

Just a quick post, the guys over at @CFgigposters are holding an exhibition of gig posters from Cardiff tomorrow night, 7:30pm at Buffalo Lounge (formerly Mr Smiths) on Woodville Road. I’ll have some work there as well as plenty of great designers from across the city, so definitely worth checking out!

I designed a few short videos for use at the recent Welsh Varsity game at the Millennium Stadium. One of which was a short sting to advertise the May Ball and specifically the combo deal.

I’ve only just started working with After Effects for the first time, so this was a great chance to work on my video skills.

Really pleased with how the video came out so lease give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Cardiff gig posters: POSTERMART!

We at hack/flash started Cardiff Gig Posters a short while ago to showcase Cardiff’s live music scene is visual form. We’ve already had a fantastic response on our blog - now we’re happy to announce the first POSTERMART!

On Wednesday 6th of April we’re going to move into…

One of my major projects for my year’s placement has been the complete design and layout of an Annual Report which I recently completed and just received from the printers. To say I’m chuffed with how this came out is an understatement, this is my first time designing a document or this length for print (30 pages English + 30 pages Welsh). After a lot of work and thinking up layouts I’m really happy with the design and it always looks so much nicer to see your work in print, especially when printed well. (These are just a few photos of the finished print, I’ll be posting better full shots on my new portfolio site when it’s launched.)

A massive thanks to flyer goodness for posting some of my work on their blog! I emailed them a few of my most recent gig posters not expecting much and was really surprised to see a few of my pieces up today!  As they said in the blog post I think it’s great for them to show some of the younger/student designers as well as the seasoned veterans! Especially as it meant showing some of my work! But there site is a great source of inspiration and I really recommend checking it out! Apart from this I’m slowly getting there with my portfolio site, I have a few nice freelance projects on the go, and a massive Annual Report to finish at work which will be a great addition to my portfolio! They&#8217;re free for commercial and personal use and you don&#8217;t need to give credit.
